Narendra Modi's Biography

Narendra Modi is an Indian politician who has been the Prime Minister of India since May 2014. He was born on September 17, 1950, in Vadnagar, a small town in the state of Gujarat, India.

Modi began his political career as a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist organization, in his youth. He later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the political arm of the RSS, and rose through the ranks to become the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001.

As Chief Minister, Modi implemented a number of economic and social reforms that transformed Gujarat into one of India's most prosperous states. He also gained a reputation for being a tough and decisive leader, although he was criticized by some for his handling of the 2002 Gujarat riots, in which hundreds of people, mostly Muslims, were killed.

In 2014, Modi led the BJP to a historic victory in the Indian general elections, winning a clear majority in the lower house of the Indian parliament. He was subsequently sworn in as Prime Minister on May 26, 2014.

As Prime Minister, Modi has launched a number of initiatives aimed at promoting economic growth, improving the quality of life for ordinary Indians, and strengthening India's position on the world stage. These initiatives include the "Make in India" campaign to boost manufacturing, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to promote cleanliness, the Digital India program to expand access to technology, and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana to increase financial inclusion.

Modi has been praised for his efforts to promote economic growth and modernize India, but he has also been criticized by some for his government's handling of issues such as religious intolerance and the treatment of minority groups. Nevertheless, he remains a highly influential figure in Indian politics and continues to enjoy broad popular support.
