Gandhi's Life Story.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi, was born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, a coastal town in present-day Gujarat, India. He was the youngest child of Karamchand Gandhi, who was a senior government official, and Putlibai, who was a deeply religious woman.

Gandhi was a shy and introverted child who was deeply influenced by his mother's Jainism beliefs. When he was only 13 years old, he was married to Kasturba Makhanji, who was also of the same age. The young couple had four sons.

In 1888, Gandhi sailed to England to study law. He was a mediocre student but was deeply influenced by the teachings of the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita. After completing his studies, he returned to India and started practicing law in Bombay.

In 1915, Gandhi was recruited by the Indian National Congress, a political party that was fighting for India's independence from British rule. Gandhi soon became the party's leader and began advocating non-violent civil disobedience as a means of achieving independence.

Gandhi was arrested several times for his protests, but he remained committed to his cause. In 1947, after decades of struggle, India finally gained its independence from British rule.

Gandhi was known for his simple lifestyle, his advocacy for non-violent resistance, and his emphasis on self-discipline and personal morality. He also believed in the importance of religious tolerance and promoted interfaith dialogue.

Sadly, Gandhi's life was cut short when he was assassinated on January 30, 1948, by a Hindu nationalist who disagreed with his views on religious tolerance. Despite his untimely death, Gandhi's legacy has lived on and has inspired countless people around the world to work towards social justice and non-violent resistance.
